Heritage Members News – Fall 2008

The Heritage Foundation publishes a quarterly newsletter to its more than 700,000 members, and the edition that appeared in Fall 2008 featured Danny Wettreich, from which this article is excerpted.

Spotlight on the Dallas/Fort Worth Community Committee & Its Leadership

Danny Wettreich and Family - Heritage FoundationEverything’s bigger in Texas, as legend has it. For proof, look at the Wettreich family of Dallas- and their support for Heritage. Danny and Zara Wettreich, their son Mark, and Danny’s parents Sam and Miriam are all President’s Club Members- three generations of strong conservatives.

That leadership is the key to success of the Dallas/Fort Worth Committee for Heritage. With Chairman Danny Wettreich at the helm, the committee is expanding Heritage’s reputation and membership through high-profile events and top-notch speakers, combined with the ingenuity and hard work that are the hallmarks of Danny’s career.

Originally from England, Danny earned his U.S. citizenship almost 20 years ago and has called Dallas home for 24 years. As chairman of Churchill Venture Capital, his expertise has helped launch an array of innovative businesses. A passionate art collector, Danny is chairman of European Art Gallery, a fine arts dealer. He is also active in charitable works and served for five years as a director of the World Affairs Council of Dallas/Fort Worth.

Danny is building the Dallas/Fort Worth Committee for Heritage into a force for conservative ideas and Heritage outreach. The committee holds a number of large events and smaller gatherings each year, including an ongoing lecture series that has featured Pulitzer Prize-winning columnist Charles Krauthammer and former Missouri Sen. James Talent.

Danny also serves as chairman of the Executive Council of Committees for Heritage, the advisory council for nationwide Community Committee activities, and is helping energize the dramatic growth of this program.

Across the nation, our Community Committees are raising Heritage’s profile, and maximizing the impact of our work, with citizens, policymakers, and the media at the local level- and encouraging support for Heritage among business leaders, community activists, and young conservatives. Says Danny: “The local events held by Heritage Community Committees are getting our supporters involved and enthusiastic. In the last two years the Dallas/Fort Worth Heritage membership alone has increased by over 70%. People are hungry for the true conservative message that Heritage offers.”
